This Old Yard

Doug has been hard at work building a new fence on the north side of our yard. He tore down the old one earlier in the spring and then trimmed back some tress and shrubs that were growing up into our yard. This side of our property faces an open space and ditch so the terrain is completely filled in with large trees and bushes. It's very pretty and provides some great shade in the summer.

Now that the fence is up, we plan on putting rocks in as edging next to the fence and then planting grass on this side of the yard. The rest of our backyard looks like this.

The plants in and around the pond all seem to be thriving! And the peonies and roses are in full bloom.

Time in Montana

One of the best things about my job is that every summer I am able to go to Montana a couple times for a week or so. I always go during the first part of June when it's really green up there and the country looks so nice. This year was no exception. The countryside looked beautiful due to all of the rain lately and it was great to spend a week on the farm. As an extra bonus this year, my niece, Kaylynn, spent the week with me. We had lots of fun with Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Pete. Another extra bonus was that my friend, Rekka, flew up for a few days from Dallas. She wanted a "City Slickers" vacation and we did our best to get her in on things like branding and moving cows. Besides being sore from all of the horseback riding, I know she enjoyed her time on the farm. Here are a few photos from our trip:

My cousin, Casey, graduated from high school in Billings and the whole Gee family was together for the occasion.

After the graduation party in Billings, we headed to Circle. It rained on us a few times which gave Dad and Kaylynn a reason to sport their matching yellow raincoats.

Kaylynn loved being outside with "Grandpa" especially if it involved going to the barn to see the baby kitties.

My dad did the branding as usual while Pete, Mom, and Rekka helped. Kaylynn and I sat in the back of the pick-up and watched.

And Rekka's vacation was complete since she got to ride horse.

It's never too early to learn how to drive the lawn mower!!

The final picture is of Pete's place. He has it all spruced up and looking good.
