More Walking

James and I went to see Kaylynn's soccer game yesterday and afterwards, he had to show off his new trick for Uncle Cory, Auntie Jamie, and Kaylynn. We got a pretty good video of his walking abilities. Cory said in the first video it was more "controlled falling" than walking. This one is better!

And I got a few good pictures of Kaylynn in action playing soccer.

Cory and Kaylynn practicing at half time.

James sat on Auntie Jamie's lap during the game and loved all the action!

James walks!

James took his first solo steps today! He did it while walking between Doug and I. We tried to capture a video of this before bedtime which was difficult because he is still pretty shaky; however this is what we ended up with. When he gets better...and more independent, we'll take another video and post it.

Boating

James and I went boating yesterday with Tricia, Dan, and Nathan up at Boyd Lake. The boys had a great time - it was the first time on the boat for each of them.

Nathan loved to drive!

James enjoying the weather.

There is a swimming plank off the back of the boat and both Nathan and James liked to put their feet in the water. It was way too cold for the rest of us!

And we ended the day with a book.

A New Roof

A bad storm in July caused some damage to our roof that warranted getting it replaced. A crew of 6 guys came yesterday to start and finish the project all in one day! Impressive. Here are a few pictures of the process...but first a couple pictures of James playing with some of his new birthday toys. I couldn't post to the blog without pictures of James!

And now onto the roof....first off with the old.

Then on with the new!

The finished product.

Labor Day Weekend

Cory, Kaylynn, James, and I decided to drive to Montana to help my mom and dad and Pete with harvest over Labor Day weekend. Cory did most of the helping in the field while Mom and I took care of the kids and cooked for the guys. It was a great way to spend the weekend! I was very nervous about the almost 10 hour trip but the kids traveled so well. They made it very easy on us. The pictures show the highlights of the weekend.
Kaylynn and James played in the house...
and in the yard.
In the evening, Mom, the kids, and I took dinner to the guys and we all ate in the field and rode on the combine with Pete.
Before leaving the field, we took a couple of pictures of the kids in the wheat.
And Kaylynn rode Homer!
Lastly, a picture of Mom and Dad's grandkids next to their sign.

James turns 1!

James turned 1 yesterday! We celebrated at a park near our house with family and friends. As soon as everyone had eaten, we gave James his first taste of cake and frosting (thanks Auntie Jamie!).

It took him awhile and little help from Daddy but he loved the frosting!

Nathan and Madelyn thought James needed some help...

Kaylynn and James before the cake eating began.

James and Madelyn are good playmates. Madeyln's grandma Jackie takes care of James when both of us are working.

After cake...came presents! James had lots of help with this task as well.

Doug tried to control the chaos of at least 5 kids trying to open presents at the same time.
And a couple of pictures of our family.

Thank you to everyone who came to help us celebrate our baby turning 1! We all had a wonderful time.
