Happy 4th of July and Kaylynn turns 5!

We spent the 4th of July at home with family and friends doing the usual American activities of cooking on the grill and watching fireworks. And as is tradition in our house, I made homemade ice cream for the occasion. James was especially patriotic thanks to Grandma Wolff!

On the 5th of July, Kaylynn turned 5!

She had a pool party with all of her friends. Here are James and Kaylynn before the rest of the kids arrived and mass chaos in the pool ensued.
Cory is in the middle of the pool playing lifeguard.

Kaylynn and her birthday cupcakes! Jamie had awesome candles for her to blow out. For more pictures from the party, check out The Yestertime Blog.

After the party, we went back to Cory and Jamie's to check out Kaylynn's birthday present - a trampoline! Kaylynn can't wait for James to be old enough to jump, but I had a great time jumping with Kaylynn - my brothers and I always wanted one of these when we were little!

Family Vacation

We took a trip to Glenwood Springs this past week for a little family vacation. Glenwood Springs is about 3 hours west of Denver - the perfect driving distance when traveling with a baby. The town's claim to fame is the natural hot springs located right in the Rocky Mountains.

On the way there, we stopped a couple of times to see some sites. This fountain was in Idaho Springs.

And James put his feet in the Colorado River.

We stayed at the Hotel Colorado. The second picture is of the hotel from a distance.

And after a big day of traveling and site-seeing, James was wore out.

We spent the next day swimming at the Hot Springs Pool.
James getting ready for his first dip in the pool!

Finally, he got to swim!

Still smiling after all that swimming.

And as we were heading home, I realized we didn't have a family picture from our family vacation so we had a waitress take this one in the cafe where we ate breakfast.
