To South Dakota

Doug, James, and I headed to South Dakota last weekend with Doug's sister, Jeanene. The purpose of our trip was 2-fold. 1 - Doug's niece Bethany was getting confirmed and as godparents, Doug and Jeanene wanted to be there. 2 - Almost 2 years ago, my Grandma Tookie said she wanted to go to Deadwood for her 80th birthday. Somehow it worked out that both of these activities could take place on the same weekend. Doug took James to Philip with him while I spent the weekend with Mom, Cheri, and Grandma.
Mom picked me up at the mall and got to spend a little bit of time with James.
First off are the pictures from our adventures in Deadwood. Grandma, Mom, and I next to a pretty lake on our drive to Mount Rushmore.

We had to stop at a Winery along the way for a tasting...

We saw some wildlife on our way to "The Heads".

At last, we made it.

The 4 of us at Mount Rushmore - Grandma, Mom, Cheri, and I.

Our drive through the Black Hills took us on some very precarious highways.

If you look very closely, you can see Mount Rushmore through the trees. I don't have any pictures of how we spent the rest of our weekend - gambling and drinking - so you'll have to use your imagination!
And finally some pictures of Doug's weekend in Philip. Bethany with her godparents and with the Bishop at her confirmation.

James had a good time visiting his cousins and grandparents in South Dakota. Papa even let him play in the Model T with Lane and Wade!
